Cannes Film Festival founded in 1946 is one of the world’s oldest and
prestigious film event. It is being held every year at this time which is
being attended by more than ten thousand film industry magnets and
directors and film stars of the world film industry.
More than 5000 journalists are expected to cover the film festival.

Shekhar Kapoor represents India as a member of the Panel of nine juries
to decide the distribution of prizes of Golden Palm, Grand Festival Prize,
Jury Prize, Best Short Film, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Director and
Best Screen play.

India will be represented by Uddan- a work of first time director Vicky Motwane
and two feature films and a short film conceived by Kerala Film Makers are
scheduled to be premiered at the prestigious world event.

According to the Festival Organisers, the French Resort will be ready for the festival
after it was hit by severe weather. Huge waves and storm caused millions of Euro
to the water-front cafés and other clubs and hotels for the welcome of millions of
tourists this season. Renovation work continues round the clock.

Scott’s “Robin-hood” starring Russell Crowe and Kate Blanchet will open this year’s
Festival with the stars of the film present on the red carpet. The film is about the birth
of Robin-hood which also stars William Hurt.

Alice in Wonderland Director Tim Burton is the President of the nine-member panel of
Juries to decide the various category of prizes to be awarded at the end of the festival.
