Drinkin Water.

Drinking Water Shortage.

Where it rains, it pours.
Where it’s dry, it is real dry.

Water, water everywhere,
And all the things did shrink,
Water, water, everywhere,
Not any drop to drink.

With the summer heat blowing, the country is heading towards the worst-ever
drinking water crisis. No steps are taken to tackle this crisis. The Projects to tackle drinking water have remained on paper for the last 62 years on account of
push and pull of the states politics. Dr. Vishvasaraiya entreated Nehru to provide him INR 500 crore in 1950, the barest minimum sum to link and tame Brahmputra, Ganges and link them with rivers in the west and the south. Politics prevailed. No action was taken.

Mrs. Gandhi inducted Dr.Rao in her cabinet to tackle this issue. No progress was achieved because of vested interests meddling in the affairs of the administration.
Bhakhra Nangel dam could be completed because of strong leaders like Pratap Singh
Kairon in Punjab.

Blitz published a photograph of the congress working committee meeting wherein, Kairon is seen pushing Nehru at the point of an umbrella and got the funds for the dam in Punjab.

To tackle drinking water problem, some drastic measures at the hands of local panchayats
are overdue. Natural pits have to be turned into ponds or lakes by blocking the fourth side to conserve rain water. Our ancestors conserved rain water. Every house had an underground wooden water tank to collect rain water therein. It would serve
the quota of drinking water for the family for an year. Such tanks exist today in Bharuch, Surat, Junagadh and many other places. Now we have syntax plastic oversize tanks to serve this purpose. Government should give grant to the needy for purchase of such tanks. Every family has to conserve the rain water for their purpose in a tank for the year.

Relief works should be in the area of recharging old dead wells, step-wells and artisan wells.. This will cost less than digging new wells. The depth of the old dead wells etc has to be bored deeper to make alive flowing water arteries in the wells.
Pits and ponds and lakes have to be formed to store drinking water for animals etc and general use. The local bodies have to take help from religious and charitable institutions
in this aspect. If there is a will, there is a way. It seems the politicians are lacking this will. They must go now. As it is they have harmed the nation a lot.
