THE ECLIPSE. IN RAINY WEATHER WHO CAN TELL, WHETHER WE WEEP OR NOT? WHO CAN SEE OUR TEARS? I DREADED THE SUN FOR ITS FIERCE HONESTY, I LOOKED STRAIGHT IN ITS EYES FOR BEING NASTY, POOR FELLOW COULD NOT MEET MY FIERCE GLANCES AND WAS SO AFRAID THAT HE PUT ON GLASSES. SO FIERCE WAS MY ANGER, SUN SAID HE WOULD SURRENDER. MY MOTHER SAID THE ECLIPSE WAS TOTAL, AND HAPPILY WE RETURNED TO OUR HOTEL. P.S. I ran to Mexico to write something tangible for the readers as A New Year’s Gift. The glowing landscape where the flat figures move in ritual pattern, is one of Nature’s great creations. Places, people action all comes from a trip to Mexico. In the vividness and actuality of these elements, I found expression of my feelings and desire. I returned to my childhood days. It was an Eclipse day which I remembered in the midst of all the grandeur and beauty of Mexico. I jotted down the lines and it is my Gift as NEW YEAR GREETING to all READERS.

IMPROVING THE MEMORY.

MEMORY CAN BE SHARPENED. History is a story of winners. Their life is history. History is written by winners. They are the brains of the nation. Brain is a part of the human body, just like other parts. It is a muscle just like all other muscles in the body. It can be trained taxed taught worked upon, improved charged, recharged, pressurised, used, reused, burdened, in order to bring it to the level of perfection. For example for illustration: You do not get the name of the place you have visited. It has disappeared from your records, from your memory. Devote a few minutes, solely to remember that place. Ask the brain when, where, why, what, who was with you? Exert your brain cells on this issue. Concentrate on it for about a minute. Still nothing is forthcoming? No problem. Forget it. Leave it. Resume your normal life. Your sub-conscious mind is at work to find out the details and name of the place visited. In the midst of your normal life, you will get a flash. You will get an e-mail alert. The name will come back in your mind, within 24 hours. Try it. Computer is an improved version of mind only. It knows how the mind works, how it forgets etc. they are meant to assist the mind, anticipating his weakness follies and forgetfulness.

Cookery does.” So man searched for food. “There is no love sincere than love of food.” So they were made to work. So they were taught to develop agriculture. This is how life developed. Man invented the tools. Without tools, man felt himself helpless and useless. With tools he is everything. They were taught to draw images on the wall. And the world of all art developed. Everything is necessary to keep him busy. Man invented machines and that is how Fabrics and clothes were made. Blessed were they when they had no talent. With talent they forget to enjoy life. “To what avail the plow or the sail? Or land or life, if happiness fail?

EVERY COUNTRY HAS TO CHANGE NOW.

EVERY COUNTRY NEEDS DRASTIC OVERHAUL. Can anyone remember and tell? “When times were not Hard?” “When money was not scarce?” For chaos in the country, at the back of everything, the political leaders are responsible for everything. “NO becomes YES for money.” “Our country has to be the source and fountainhead in the world arena. In all matters it has to excel all others.” No businessman would invest his fortune in a place, where the government skims 20% of the top, or, where the top of the port authority is corrupt. Laws were made like cobwebs, where small flies got caught, and the big ones broke through. Parliament has turned more or less an expensive big house, where more or less it is a resting place of idlers. Country expects everyone to do his duty. If this dictum is followed, Country will be at the TOP. Each country has not asserted itself as a world country in International matters. Diplomats have failed to project India as a super power player in the 21st century. At the back of everything, there is lack of diplomacy and farsightedness in each issue. Our media and lobby activity is very poor in international media and lobby. We lack drive and force to project country’s issue. We are meek and mild and docile and submissive. We have to be aggressive and initiating in the cause of issues relating to our interest. A policy of compromise and submissiveness is seen at each issue. Every year, every term, new faces are inducted in the ministry. None can do the magic. The present set of machinery, rules, regulations and principles of justice come in the way of fast track course of action required to be adopted in important matters. Our very existence is at a threat, as A Nation. There were incumbents before them on the same post. They were better. That is the quality of the present lot. There is nothing like moral and immoral in issues at international level. There is nothing ethics and non-ethics in issues relating to the security and solidarity of the country. There are three kinds of lies. Lies. Damn lies and statistics. Statistics are generally used to lie to the public. Damn lies are used to keep the lower rank and file in order. Lies are common among colleagues. There is lack of trust and confidence. All can be bought and sold like commodity. Everything is for sale. There must be a buyer.

WISDOM COMES FROM WANDERING. In common parlance, wisdom is judgment, insight, will, common-sense, rationality, sapience sagacity, profundity, enlightenment, erudition, knowledge intelligence, learning prudence, intuition. Suffering is agony, anguish, distress, misery, pain, grief, torment, woe, heartache, affliction, trial, ordeal, burden, torture, injury, wound, hurt, pain, ache, pang, stab, and sting. With a plate of coarse rice for eats, With a jug of water for drinks, And my bent arms as pillows, I have joy in the midst of sorrows. “What is time for supper?” For Anil, whenever he chooses. For Arun, whenever he can. Poverty has kept more homes together, than divided. Wealth has divided more houses than kept together. Their houses are new, prejudices are old. They build new house with lot of money But they do not live in it worthy way. One half of the nation is ill-housed. One half of our people are ill-clad. One half of our people are ill-nourished. So little done, so much to do ! What crimes are committed in the name of progress ? What money is collected in the name of religion? What scams are operated in the name of prosperity ? Oh ! my country, when and where will all this end?

TATTOOING- SKIN-PIERCING.

TATTOOING- SKIN PIERCING -SIGNS- AND EMBLEMS ON THE BODY. Boys may go. Girls may go. Friends may go. Lovers may go. Wives and husbands may go. But tattoos are for ever. The tattoo marks are the memory of their company and good old days they passed together. Tattooing is for self-protection. An emblem of a deity on the arm endow him with courage. He is not alone. The deity is with him to protect. The image of Lord Hanuman on the wrist is a common sign in India for men. A tattoo is a girl’s friend. She does not feel lost and lonely. The tattoo sign of her faith is present to protect. Some pierce their skins with different signs and figures of past memory. Tattooing was an ancient custom as a mark of identification of a particular person. Now it has turned out a fashion. Some do it as a token of love for her lover to emboss his or her name on her body. They take pride in exhibiting such tattoo marks. Some hide it but all have it these days. The Pain. They undergo pain to express their love. Big stars, singers have prominent tattoo marks on their body. They all love tattoos as they love their lover. They take a plunge in the world of pain. Prominent starlets have at least about ten tattoos inscribed on her body. Images of Marilyn Monroe, Rock Hudson, Elvis, James Stewart and so on. Fans of movie-stars, singers get the images of their favorites tattooed on their body for inspiration. Tattooing has turned out a very lucrative and roving business. Angelina Jolie carries on her body a dozen such marks. Most of them relate to different culture and known places. She exhibited on her bare back a Buddhist prayer in Cambodian script. Similarly Jessica Alba has a tattooed figure of a bow and arrow on her back. She has a sign OAM on her wrist. Some stars claim that they were infected with Hep C an infectious disease causing inflammation. This can be caused by contaminated needle while piercing the skin and inserting pigment for colorisation. According to Health administration rules an artist has to have a diploma from a recognized tattooing institute to practice this art. He is supposed to take out a licence and is subject to frequent inspection by the health authority. But all these rules are on paper and no agency takes action against unlicensed shops.

Lady luck favours once or twice, not thrice. Take it. Grab it. Do not let it slip from your hands. Make followers. Make a group of your own. Alone you are nobody. In a group you are somebody. You get voice. Do not spend the time in the house. Move out. You see. House in only for sleep. Do not feel surrounded by your circumstances. Make a way out of it. Come out of everything. Do not carry lot of luggage of worries and ideas and future. Be a judge of your problems. Problems of no importance be put in cold-storage. MIND YOU. All problems cannot be put in cold-storage. You sort out the problems and classify them, whether it is wise to sit tight or take action. Evaluate each problem, try to tackle it.

THE COCONUT TREE.

THE COCONUT TREE. The coconut tree is called the Tree of Life. Coconut Oil is edible and it has many other important uses. Coconut-God’s Gift. A boon to us. Green Coconut. Cut-opened with a knife, in front of you, put a straw in the carved hole to sip the coconut milk. The inner cream can be scraped with a spoon. Dry Coconut. When the coconut matures, its sweet water is nectar for human health. The brown fibre, husk is pulled out and used in coir industry. Grated or used for its milk, turned into candies, rice delicacies, and decorating Indian food dishes. When coconut green layer turns brown, and dry, the coconut surface cover turns hard like a rock. The sweet water inside is life giving water not found in any other fruit. The matured fruit inside has to be pulled out from the hard shell. It is allowed to dry and is the coconut fruit which bears coconut oil. The husk has many important uses for ropes. The hard shell is turned into cups, used in many ways. The trunk of the coconut tree is used as lumber. The leaves are used to make broom, used for roofing or making bags. Coconut Oil Bath. A scene on the brinks of (Kozhikode) Calicut, on the sea-shore. “There are sheds wherein one shed is increasingly getting popular. It performs the Kaya-Kalpa ceremony. You are soaked in Oil in a drum for hours. A wooden drum is filled with coconut oil. You are dumped in the drum and soaked and suffocated in oil from head to toe. Two men drag you out. You lie on a mat in sunshine in open in the sands. When the body has absorbed the oil, again the same cycle is repeated. You are put on the mat to dry. In the process you swallow a lot of oil. They clean the nose, ears and the stomach. A thin layer of cloth is passed through the nostrils. When the stomach is washed, you will find sickening sticky cough and beetle nut pieces and such other things recovered from the stomach, weighing about a kilo. This is a process from morning to evening. It is like servicing the human body. The bowels released vicious stored gas and secretion. After the process is over, you are advised to take rest and very light food for a week.” In the olden days before 50 years, the charge was INR 5000. Now it may be ten times. My father had it done. I had been with him in childhood. He lived ten years longer. This write out is for general knowledge and for normal healthy people.

SIKH GURU NANAKji.

Guru Nanak.(1469-1539) Guru Nanak was born in village Talvandi, Lahore. At an age of 35 he had visionary experience in which he heard a voice Ordering him to preach God’s name, serve him with prayer and Spread teachings of true faith. 10th November 2017 is calculated to be the 549th birth-anniversary of Guru Nanak. Let no man in the world live in delusion. Without a Guru none can cross over to the other shore. The Guru is the Word, For all nectar is enshrined in this word. Blessed is the word which reveal the Lord's name But more is the one who knows it by the Guru's grace. Whoever, styling himself as a teacher lives on others, never bow before him. He who earns his livelihood by the sweat of Hasbro and shares it with others. O Nanak only he can know the way. God is one, but he has innumerable forms. He is the creator of all and He himself takes the human form. One cannot comprehend Him through reason, even if one reasoned for ages. The lord can never be established nor created; the formless one is limitlessly complete in Himself. The word is the Guru, The Guru is the Word, For all nectar is enshrined in the word. Blessed is the word which reveal the Lord's name But more is the one who knows it by the Guru's grace. He who shows the real home in this body is the Guru. He makes the five sounded word reverberate in man. Even Kings and emperors with heaps of wealth and vast dominion cannot be compared with an ant filled with the love of God. As fragrance abides in the flower As reflection is within the mirror, So does your Lord abide within you, Why search for him without ? His teachings, expressed through devotional hymns, many of which still survive, stressed salvation from rebirth through meditation on the divine name. Among modern Sikhs he enjoys a particular affection as their founder and as the supreme master of Punjabi devotional hymn. What little information there is about Nanak's life has been handed down mainly through legend and tradition. There is no doubt that he was born in 1469 in the village of Rai Bhoi di Talvandi. His father was a member of a sub-caste of the mercantile Khatri caste. The relatively high social rank of the Khatris distinguishes Nanak from other religious reformers of the period and may have helped promote the initial growth of his following. He married the daughter of a Khatri, who bore him two sons. For several years Nanak worked in a granary until his religious vocation drew him away from both family and employment, and, in the tradition of Indian religious mendicants, he embarked on a lengthy journey, probably traveling to the Muslim and Hindu religious centers, and perhaps even to places beyond India's borders. Neither the actual route nor the places he visited can be positively identified. References found in four of his hymns suggest that Nanak was present at attacks Babur launched on Saidpur and Lahore, so it seems safe to conclude that by 1520 he had returned from his travels and was living in the Punjab. The remaining years of his life were spent in Kartarpur. In view of the size of the followers that Nanak attracted, numerous anecdotes concerning the deeds of the Guru began to circulate within the community soon after his death. Many of these were borrowed from the current Hindu and Muslim traditions, and others were suggested by Nanak's own works. These anecdotes were called sakhis, and the anthologies into which they were gathered in rough chronological order are known as Janam-sakhis. The interest of the narrators and compilers of the Janam-sakhis has largely concentrated on the childhood of Nanak and above all on his travels. Among the earlier traditions are tales of visits he is supposed to have made to Baghdad and Mecca. Ceylon is a later addition, and later still the Guru is said to have traveled as far east as China and as far west as Rome. Today the Janam-sakhis offer a substantial material, and the more important of these collections continue to be the basis of biography of Nanak.

We can live only 30 days without Food. 1. We have to educate ourselves. How can we solve the problem if we don't know what the problem is? Information on green thinking, environmentalism and sustainable living is everywhere these days. Then why not start with like our very own guide for How to Go Green? 2. Transport. One of the biggest impacts we have on the planet is vehicles, a direct result of the way we move ourselves around. We must consider walking, biking or using mass transit, at least a few days a week. RISHI SAGE PARSURAM

Dynasty of Lord Parasurama. In the dynasty of the Ailas was a great king named Gadhi. His daughter Satyavati was chaste and beautiful. The king was approached by sage Ruchika for the hand of his daughter. King Gadhi did want to refuse a Brahman, but at the same time did not consider him a fit match for his daughter. So he fixed a dowry for his daughter, of at least one thousand horses, brilliant as the sunshine, with one ear black and the other white. The great sage understanding the mind of the king, procured this from Varuna, the demi-god of the ocean, and thus was married to Satyavati. Soon Satyavati and her mother both approached sage Ruchika and requested him to perform a yajna so that they could have a son. The great sage performed the yajna and prepared two oblations, one for his wife, Satyavati and one for her mother. Since he was a Brahman, he instructed his wife to eat the oblation prepared to induce Brahmanical qualities in the child. The oblation for the mother-in-law was prepared with Ksatriya mantra since she belonged to the ruling class. The mother of Satyavati thinking that the oblation for her daughter was superior to her, requested it from her daughter and ate it, while Satyavati ate the oblation prepared for her mother. When the great sage Ruchika found out about this, he first declared that while Satyavati would have a fierce son on Ksatriya qualities, her mother would have a learned son of Brahmanical qualities. However, appeased by his remorseful wife, he later decreed that while Satyavati would have a Brahmanical son, the son of this son would be a fierce warrior. Thus was set the stage for the appearance of Lord Parasurama. In accordance with the decree of sage Ruchika, Satyavati had Jamadagni as a son, who was a gentle pious Brahman. The mother of Satyavati, the wife of King Gadhi had a son, who though born in a ksatriya family would later become a great Brahman rishi called Vishwamitra. The chaste Satyavati later became the sacred river Kausika, to purify the entire world. Her son Jamadagni married Renuka, the daughter of Renu. He had several sons headed by Vasuman. The youngest of his son was called Rama. Because of his fondness of parusa (metal chopper) as a weapon he was later called Parasurama. Parsuram is the sixth Incarnation of lord Vishnu, belongs to the Tretayug, and is the son of Jamadagni and Renuka. He received an axe after undertaking a terrible penance to please Lord Shiva, from whom He learned the methods of warfare and other skills. Dharani is his wife an incarnation of Goddess Laxmi. King Kartavirya Sahastr-arjuna, took away the holy cow Surbhi forcibly, and the King's sons killed Jamadagni in Parshuram's absence. Furious at their unrighteous act, He killed all sons of the King and also went on killing all corrupt Haihaya Kings and warriors on the earth 21 times. He then conducted the Ashvamedha sacrifice, done only by sovereign Kings and gave the entire land He owned to priests who performed the sacrifice. He is Immortal who stopped the advancing ocean back, thus saving the lands of Maharashtra - Karnataka - Kerala coastline and it is known as Parsuram Kshetra. He has been a Guru to Bhishma, Dronacharya and later also to Karna. He taught Karna the extremely powerful Brahmastra. But He also cursed that the knowledge would be useless to Karna, predicting much in advance that Karna will join the unrighteous Duryodhana in the Kurukshetra war. Such was His love for Righteousness. Parshuram is a martial Shraman ascetic. However, unlike all other Incarnations, Parshuram lives on earth even today. The Kalki Purana states Parshuram will be the martial guru of Sri Kalki, the 10th and final Incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is He who instructs Kalki to perform a long penance unto Shiva to receive celestial weaponry. He created a temple of worship right after He resurfaced Kerala from the sea. He placed statues of various Deities in 108 different places and introduced martial arts to protect the temple from the evil. There is a major festival known as Parshuram Jayanti that celebrates this deity. The festival takes place during April of the Western calendar, or on the third day of the bright half of the Hindu month Vaishakh. There is a giant parade and the festivities are hosted by the Brahmins resident in Jammu city. One story that relates to this avatar involves the anger of his father Jamadagni. Based on his rage, he asked Parshuram to slay his wife Renuka, Parshuram's mother. In obedience and devotion to his father, this deed was done. However, when offered a reward for his obedience, he requested his mother be given back her life. From this story comes the recognition of this avatar with parental devotion. Another tale tells of Kartavirya Sahashrarjun, who was a kshatrya (warrior king), murdering Parshuram's father. Due to this deed, Parshuram made a vow to obliterate all warrior kings. However, in fear the kshatrya fled the district until being urged back on the grounds that Parshuram must depart. He was then exiled to the mountain Mahendra because of his misconduct. A third story tells of Parshuram's intention to visit Shiva. Apparently he was stopped by Ganesha. Parshuram responded by hurling his axe at Ganesha, who allowed it to sever a tusk as the axe had been gifted by Shiva. He knew most of the vidyas by the age of eight and was able to converse with animals. Although there are numerous references and stories pertaining to Parshuram, his main purpose was reportedly to rid the planet of wrongness, especially formed by powerful kings who mistreated their status.

Kautilya’s economic principles, political agenda by Chanakya was a gift to the world. Vedas were written on metal sheets and engraved on stones to reach the message to the people And religious books were narrated on papires. The concept of open-university education was in existence by Maharshis and Rishies imparting Education in physical fitness and use of weapons and study of puranas and religion. It taught the world how to grow food in agriculture and how to eat it to the best of its use and taste. It offered the world the taste of eating by use of spices, cloves cardamom salt and other spices. It invented the round wheels of the cart enabling to make moving carts and chariots for easy transport. It made boats and ships and cargo-plains of wood for sea-transport of goods to the world. Sanskrit was the universal language for communication with other world countries. From it All other languages have sprouted. India was a highly civilized and prosperous continent spreading almost more than half of Asia. The Sandal wood was in great demand from Egypt and other countries to preserve the mummy. Columbus and many others spent their life to find India. Instead he found America. JC Bose proved that plants and trees have life. Invention of the radio was done by an Indian but politics and dirty games made it for Marconi. India recently released 10 satellites in the orbit and created a record. WHO KNOWS ? “BUT HE VERILY KNOWS WHOSE EYES CONTROL THIS WORLD FROM THE HIGHEST HEAVEN, OR PERHAPS HE EVEN KNOWS NOT.

Information about him has to be gathered from his dialogue With Plato or with Xephon. The topic of his lectures was about “ KNOW THYSELF.” TAKE CARE OF YOUR SOUL. THE SOUL IS A STRANGER IT SLEEPS WHEN BODY AWAKES AND IS ACTIVE. LOOSELY INHABITING IN OUR BODY. MAKE YOUR SOUL AS HOLY AS THAT OF THE GOD. DO NOT WASTE TIME IN TAKING CARE OF YOUR BODY. SOCRATESE SPENT ALL HIS TIME IN WANDERING IN MARKET PLACES, GYMNASIA, PUBLIC PLACES LECTURING ABOUT HUMAN GOOD. WE HAVE FORGOTTEN GOD. WE HAVE INVOLVED OURSELVES IN WORLDLY PLEASURES. HE LIVED IN UTTER POVERTY. ALL WINTERS AROUND HE WORE ONE AND HIS ONLY ONE WINTER COAT TO PROTECT HIMSELF FROM SEVERE COLD. HE WORE NO SHIRT. HE WORE NO SHOES. HE PROFESSED THAT FOOLISH IMMORAL TALES ABOUT GOD WERE CIRCULATED BY GREEDY MONKS,PRIESTS TO MAKE THEIR LIVLIHOOD. HE BELIEVED IN THE IMMORTALITY OF THE SOUL. HE WAS CHARGED FOR OFFENCE OF CORRUPTING THE MINDS OF THE YOUTH. HE WAS SENTENCED TO DEATH BY OFFERING A CUP OF POISON TO DRINK.

SANYASEE- THE HINDU MONK.

THE HINDU MONKS. SANYAASI. DASHNAMI SADHUS BELONG TO ONE OF THE 10 TITLES (DASHNAMI, "TEN NAMES") ESTABLISHED BY SHANKARA IN THE 8TH CENTURY. THEY ARE RECOGNIZED AND HAVE THEIR SAY IN THE COUNTRY EVEN TODAY. THE 10 ORDERS ARE ARANYA, ASHRAMA, BHARATI, GIRI, PARVATA, PURI, SARASVATI, SAGARA, TIRTHA, AND VANA. EACH ORDER IS ATTACHED TO ONE OF FOUR MATHAS, ALSO ESTABLISHED BY SHANKARA, IN THE NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, AND WEST. THEY ARE JYOTI (JOSHI) MATHA AT BADRINATH, NEAR HARIDWAR, SHRNGERI MATHA SRINGERI, KARNATAKA, GOVARDHANA MATHA PURI, ORISSA, AND SHARADA MATHA DWARKA, GUJARAT. THE HEADS OF THE MONASTERIES ARE CALLED MAHANTS, THE HEAD OF THE SHRNGERI MATHA IS CALLED JAGADGURU, AND THEY CONTINUE TO BE CONSULTED ON POINTS OF DOCTRINE AND TO BE ACCORDED THE HIGHEST RESPECT BY FOLLOWERS AS WELL AS BY THE ASCETICS WHO FOLLOW THEM. DASHNAMI SANNYASINS TYPICALLY WEAR COLOURED ROBES AND, IF THEY CAN OBTAIN ONE, CARRY ON THEIR SHOULDERS A TIGER OR LEOPARD SKIN TO SIT ON. THEY WEAR A MALA OF 108 RUDRAKSA. THEY ALLOW THEIR BEARDS TO GROW AND WEAR THEIR HAIR LOOSE ABOUT THEIR SHOULDERS OR ELSE TIED IN A TOPKNOT. THEY ARE RELIGIOUS ASCETICS, WHO HAVE RENOUNCED THE WORLD, HAVING ACHIEVED THE FOURTH ASHRAMA, OR STAGE, OF LIFE. AMONG THE SANNYASIS, THE HIGHEST STAGE OF ACHIEVEMENT IS THAT REACHED BY THE PARAMAHAMSA. THIS HONOR IS USUALLY GIVEN ONLY AFTER A PROBATION OF AT LEAST 12 YEARS AS AN ASCETIC AND ONLY TO THOSE SANNYASIS WHO HAVE ACHIEVED FULL SELF-KNOWLEDGE. THEY ARE CONSIDERED FREE OF ALL WORLDLY RULES AND DUTIES, SUCH AS THOSE PERTAINING TO CASTE, AND ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED TO CARRY OUT IMAGE WORSHIP OR SACRIFICES BUT MAY, IF THEY WISH, WORSHIP INTERNALLY ONLY. THE MOST RENOWNED PARAMAHAMSA WAS RAMAKRISHNA PARAMHAMSA. SANNYASIS, LIKE OTHER SADHUS, ARE NOT CREMATED, BUT ARE GENERALLY BURIED IN A SEATED POSTURE OF MEDITATION.
