The Statue of Liberty is the Gift of the People of France.
The Statue has greeted millions of immigrants who came to USA.
It has continued to greet millions of tourists every year since 1886.
Designer of Eiffel tower Alex Gustav designed the iron frame work that supports the copper statue. The pedestal was designed by Richard Morris at the NY harbor.
Since the cost of statue exceeded its budget, it was shred by France and USA. It was shipped from France in pieces in 214 crates.
In 1886, President Grover declared open the Statue of Liberty and said: “Lady Liberty Lives Here.”
It is the largest statue ever built. It measures 305 feet including the base and the pedestal. It has 354 steps up the spiral staircase.
200 replica copies of Statue of Liberty have been made and shine at the gates of various States of USA and other world countries.
The Statue of Liberty was renovated at the instance of President Regan in 1986.
