PALACES AND THEIR HAREMS PALACES AND THEIR HORSE STABLES PALACES AND THEIR JEWELS AND ART GALLERIES PALACES AND THEIR FLEET OF CARS AND VEHICLES PALACES AND THEIR ARMORY. Palaces and Maharajas Palaces, Tigers, Elephants, Jewels were their items of status-symbol. Their palaces, tigers, elephants and sports cars went into oblivion when the Country got Independence. Their fancy for hunting, sports, races, their wealth was legendary. What has remained behind are their palaces. These palaces are signs of their wealth, glory and life. There were 563 Indian Rulers out of which 252 were in Gujarat which included 222 rulers of Saurashtra, and Kutch. Most of their palaces have turned into Heritage hotels or TV studios or business offices. Vadodara Laxmivilas palace is situated in 720 acres which includes a golf course, museum, in possession of the royal family. Bhavnagar Nilambagh palace is now a heritage hotel run by the royal family. Gondal Navlakha palace is a collection of items of royal family. Junagadh is famous for Nawab palace and holiday resort at Veraval. Wankaner Ranjeetvilas palace is known for its marble architecture. Bhuj mirror palace, Prag darbar hall and vijayvilas palace of Mandvi are known for their folk culture and decoration. Jamnagar palace is sold out and turned into business offices. Rajpipla palace is on the riverside of Narmada and occupies Government offices. All these places can be developed into sight-seeing spots for Tourists.
