Indian Filmdom-Raj Kapoor.

Raj Kapoor –the Legend.  (1924-1988).
Like Guru Dutt, Raaj Kumar etc, Raj Kapoor was also in anguish against the iniquitous, inequitable world order.
http://www.idlebrain.com/mumbai/images/rajkapoor2.jpgIn Awara (1952), Raju, the petty thief, cries out against a society that accords respectability to thieves, con-men, pick-pocketers, hoarders and capitalists at the expense of the impoverished working class.
In Shri 420, too, he aligns himself with the de-humanised downfall of those who live behind the glare of Bombay's glittering skyline. With his tattered shoes, patched trousers and pocketful of dreams, he strikes an instant rapport with the city slum.

Born on  December 14, 1924, at Peshawar, actor, director, film star, Raj Kapoor was known throughout India, the Middle East, the Soviet Union, and China. Mera Juta hai Japani and
Dil hai Hiindustani was a catch-phrase on the tongues of every Russian, Chinese and all others..
As a beginner in Filmdom, Raj Kapoor worked as a clapper-boy for the Bombay Talkies and as an actor for Prithvi Theatres, two companies that were owned by his father, Prithvi Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor's first major screen role was in Aag , which he also produced and directed.
In 1950 he formed his own RK studio, and the next year achieved romantic stardom in Awara. He wrote, produced, directed, and starred in such successful films as Barsaat, Shri 420,  Jagte Raho,Aah,  Mera Naam Joker. Etc.
He also directed films featuring his brothers and his sons. Bobby film broke all box-office records. Although he portrayed romantic leads in his early movies, his best-known characters were modeled on Charlie Chaplin's poor but honest tramp. His use of sexual imagery often challenged traditionally strict Indian film standard, and many of his film songs became musical hits in the hearts of every Indian.
On May 2, 1988, during the Dada saheb Phalke award ceremony at which he received the Indian film industry's highest honour, Raj Kapoor suffered an acute asthma attack and collapsed in the hall itself.  He was rushed to the hospital but he could not survive the ill-fated tragedy.
He died one month later.
He is still remembered for his eye for the best in his films.
He is known as the best businessman in film industry.  He had the ears for finding lilting music in his films. Raj Kapoor is immortal in the hearts of all of us and viewers miss him for his entertainment studded films.
