Friendship.

A Friend in need is friend indeed.

While pensive friends painful vigils keep;
Without support themselves, they support friends indeed,
Good friends and good friendship must ever join;
To err is human, to forgive is divine.

Ram’s marriage was nearing end. He had left his wife, two
children. Sam heard what Ram had done. Although he lived six
hundred miles away, he availed a week-end to drive down to see him.
Sam knew what Ram needed was not judgment but an encouragement.
Sam shared his concern, love and support. They moved together at
all the local known places visiting them sightseeing and enjoying
each other’s company, for full two days and parted.

“All parting has to be sudden.”

What Ram had lacked was support from a friend who would look eye to eye
and offer a strong shoulder of support. That support may come
in different ways. Some times it may come through love and caring;
other times through confrontation and accountability.

Ram’s life changed when both were willing to reach beyond
themselves and their concerns and got involved in pursuit of
nothing. Sam lend him his shoulder of support to make him
realize that he was not alone in this world.

Man-to Man encouragement has a different kind of power than
man-to-woman. He could relate to the struggles of another friend.
At a critical moment in his life Ram needed Sam more than his wife
as a support.

Without Sam’s saying anything what he should do and all that,
Sam heard that Ram had been united with his family and they were OK.

Blessed are those who have good friends.
