Sunnat (2)

Sunnat.(2).

Female Circumcision.
Female genital cutting also controversially known as Female Circumcision,
is the ritual involving partial or total removal of the external female genital organ, for religious, traditional custom point of view of certain castes and communities.

In such cases it has to be performed on new born child with the permission of the parents.
The procedure is medically termed as clitoridectomy, or it may be part of labiaplasty,
or vaginoplasty. It is being performed throughout the world. It is concentrated more
heavily in Asian African countries.

The World Health Organization has issued manifold instructions to end the system of female circumcision. The United Nations observes every year 6th of February as the date to celebrate as International day against genital mutilation.

Categorisation of Female Genital Cutting can be:-

1. Partial or total removal of the clitoris.
2. Partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia-minora with or without excision
of the labia-majora.
3. Infibulation with excision, involves extensive tissue removal of the external
Genitalia including labia minora and the inside of the labia-majora. The labia-majora
are then held together using throngs or stitching.

In some cases the legs of the girl have been tied together for four to six weeks
to prevent her from moving and to all the healing of the two sides of the vulva.
Nothing remains there but the walls of the flesh from the pubis down the anus,
with the exception of the opening of the vulva to allow urine and
menstruation flow.

4. Other types include pricking clitoris with needles, burning, scarring the genitals
and ripping or tearing open of the vagina.

Female circumcision unusually involves cutting or removal of the clitoris.
This area of the genital is very sensitive because it holds the most nerves ending
at this point.

Genital cutting is a very painful practice that is very often very poorly carried
out and endangers the health and the life of millions of girls particularly in
Muslim countries of Asia Africa Europe Russia and elsewhere.

Female circumcision is centered around the rupturing of the hymen with
an instrument. Its rationale is that the woman is freed from being judged
by her virginity or lack thereof including the status of virginity.
