Imitation and Competition.

Competition.

It is inherent. A girl child imitates the mother.
A boy child imitates the father. Young ones
are found to imitate the elders. As they grow up imitation turns into
competition. Human life is a game of race between one another or one against all.
We have to enter into competition to achieve life’s goal.
Sometimes we see our profession as a race or a competition.
We get up in the morning, put on the running shoes and head towards
the race track, which is our office. The other runners are those who are involved in the same profession to be running along just like us. We tend to believe that whoever
gets the earlier start or runs longer is the winner. Life is an unusual race that never ends.
We run until we quit, get hurt or retire.

Competition is good for any man up to a point.
It becomes harmful to himself or others, when it goes too far.
When a man enters into competition at work he loses his ability to be objective.
And he is apt to make many mistakes. Competition is a blind race where there are no winners but losers. If one has a problem with being overly competitive, with work if he runs alone, rather than running against someone else, it may yield better result. Doing your work at your own pace, in your own way will get you further in the long run.
Healthy and constructive competition builds life. Perverse competition destroys life.

China's I.T. Monopoly.

Walls in China. The new wall. WWW.BAIDU.COM.CN

We know of the great Wall in China.
The Great China Wall is so high, so long and so big that it is seen from the space.
This is a visible wall. There are many unseen invisible walls one has to cross over to penetrate into China.

Google the giant search engine felt frustrated with the allergy of the Chinese internet users, and step motherly treatment, restrictions at the hands of the Chinese Government in the field of Cyber policy. Google.China announced its readiness to quit from the field.

Google. China faces stiff competition at the hands of www.baidu.com.cn it is the Chinese Search Engine. It started in 2000 and has 57 version and about a billion web pages and eighty million web-sites audio files and images.

The Chinese love their Baidu.com site where internet games music pirated popular shows
are available. Baidu is so popular Chinese web-site that it competes with Yahoo, EBay, Face book MySpace Twitter’s Bing, Alibaba and many others. Baidu.com offers links to internet users so that they can easily download pirated songs TV shows and films from Chinese web sites.
Baidu earns revenue from online marketing and consultative services.

Toy Train to Darjeeling.

The Toy Train to Darjeeling.

Most of India’s rail routes are dominated by giant broad gauge locomotives
and modern high speed passenger trains between the countries mega cities.

The narrow gauge two feet wide tracked toy train Darjeeling railway
zigzagging from the rice bowl of Bihar to the misty tea growing highlands
is the antithesis of the modern lines. This route was completed in the year 1881.
The idea of a toy train to Darjeeling was the brainchild of the then English rulers.

Worthy of a museum, the tiny locomotive labors from low line Siligury
into the hills affording a leisurely way to witness the natural scenery
of Bengal. Puffing uphill, at not much more than a jogging pace,
the toy train covers the distance of 51 miles in eight hours.
The train hits its zenith at Ghom railway station before covering the last
four miles down to Darjeeling which is at an altitude of 6811 feet.

One can only marvel at the determination of the engineers and workers
who carved out the line by blasting the hills in the jungles. Along the
way the scenery changes from green gold of paddy fields to mist shrouded
slopes while the train passes the tea plantations and the villages en route,
where the womenfolk and children dressed in vivid colors and silver jewelry
Of the Bhutia and Lencha hills wave as you pass by.

Reaching Darjeeling, the clouds disappear to reveal the faraway Himalaya.

Vaccume in Life.

Life’s Vacuum.

“He is a man after his father dies.”

We feel as if a great roof that protected us has fallen.
We felt small and vulnerable without him.
How would we survive in this vast world without him?

My father and I had close relationship.
I was devastated when he was no more on this earth.
If one has experienced this event in his life, he can
gauge the emptiness one feels. He feels he is helpless.
Every child places his dependency on his father.
It is difficult to reconcile his loss within a short span of time.

As it is rightly said that time is the greatest healing factor, all
is gradually forgotten and one involves himself in his
day to day life.

With the passing of time. new life takes form without him
With new contacts and new relation. Life goes on.. life goes on.
Parents turn in to pictures to hang on the wall.

Pornography.

Pornography.

Pornography has zeroed in our life creating what
will probably be a generation of sexual addicts.
It is seen that pornography is filtered right into the home
through TV channels, magazines, sites and what not.
It has the effect to act on a man’s visual sexual response
and his level of fantasy to capitalize. When one sees the figure
of a sexy female, he feels he is being aroused.

Pornography diminishes sex to a raw physical experience.
Nature intended sex to be a communion of man and woman into
bliss and harmony. The best way to deal with this evil is to
avoid it. In most cases, the friends both boys and girls
in tender age exploit on this subject.

There should be sex-education in schools or the child should be
taught the facts of life straight from the horse’s mouth.

Senseless Sam.

Senseless Sam.

“The grass is greener on the other side of the fence.”

So Sam believed when he was having an affair with his secretary.
Sam felt that his secretary was more sexually appealing than his wife.
He could speak hours together with his secretary. He talked with his wife
to the point and guardedly as if answering a news conference.
He felt revived and regenerated in the presence of his secretary.
He was infatuated by the youth and the charm of his secretary.
Secret love affair acted as a tonic on his tired mind. He felt young once again.
His life changed. There was a new vigor and vitality flowing from him.

So Sam jumped the fence where the grass was greener.
Sam divorced his wife and lost custody of his two daughters.
He married his secretary in a simple ceremony in presence of his office staff.
The first six months were very exciting for Sam.
The secretary ruled the roast and in the process of governing Sam.s company,
the secretary wife overhauled the entire staff with new ones of her liking.
It was popularly said by the shareholders a petticoat administration.
She was found out as auditors revealed a scam of some millions.
Sam’s euphoria ended quickly as his fantasy bride left him a note saying,

“It was nice while it lasted, but I have found someone else whom I love.”

Sam is now 45 and lives alone. He alienated himself from his wife and children
for a secretary who was a hooker moving from man to man in search of better.

Sam now frantically tries to woo his first wife.
She does not yield, she avoids to see him.
Lastly as I know Sam is trying for a reconciliation through his daughters.
I do not know whether he will succeed.

The Double Standard.

Series143

Why This Double Standard?

Whole our life we have felt this double standard in every walk of life.

Take for example the Government.
Why the public can not get answers straight from the shoulder?
Why there is run around attitude? Why there is secrecy?

For example solar energy. When satellite is launched in the space,
it gets its power from solar energy. There are solar energy batteries
provided in the satellite, that get charged and supply power in the
functioning of the satellite.

Why information about use of solar energy is not released for public knowledge?
In the entire world over, street lights road lights are provided by solar energy,
street lamps and road lights. India can not do it. It is very expensive to replace the existing lamp posts.

Computers and Internet existed during the second world war. Its use was
restricted for war purposes and for exchange of war messages.
It was put for public benefit after many years.

Take for example the big business houses. They conduct inside trading and made
billions of INR. We have no access to it. It is a privilege of a certain class of people.

Take for example the telephones. Before 20 years, for getting a temporary telephone connection, one had to have a link with the minister and the ministry. Any common man
can not get it. Similarly take the example of car phones in the nineties. It was the privilege of a few party workers and VIPs to avail it. Common man was deprived of it.
Thank God now that telephones are available like cutlery items in the shops.

In the field of medicine, many life saving research exist. They are not released.
Everywhere the Government comes in the way of the public sharing the same benefit.

Observing Silence Day.

Series146

Importance of Observing Silence.

“Mahatma Gandhi during his lifetime, observed Monday
as the day of his observing silence. He spoke nothing at all
for one day and observed silence. He believed that keeping
himself silent was a way to bring order to the Mind.”

If circumstances required the Mahatma to convey something, he would
write it on a paper.

No talking for 24 hours is an impossible job
unless one has an iron will and steel determination to observe silence.

No talking is extra hard for regular people who are talkative.
People are seen to talk about almost anything and everything,
Including baseball, basketball, cricket, music, movies, politics
and anything under the sky.

In reality, if one has to shut up for five minutes, it is very difficult, if
not impossible. You will feel the top of your head about to explode.
People keep talking for the sake of talking so that their presence may be felt.
He feels by talking he is in charge of the situation. It is sort of like behaving
like a police officer out in the middle of the traffic.

After passing a full day of silence, your mind will enable you to
speak the right words. Your small words uttered in a routine way will
sound to others as orders. Every word you speak counts.
Choose power words.
Singing is not talking.
We can sing together.
We can not talk together.
Silence is golden.
Silence is eloquent.

Too much of talking drives the other people crazy.
Do we call ourselves civilized?
We would project as a miserable aimless directionless mob.
When we are together in a procession, we do not shout, wave,
yell and hoot at friends who are passer-by.
At a meeting we do not whisper and giggle and point out and wave
and laugh at our silly jokes.
And when we are together at the lunch table, it is not free-for-all
festival to blab. Lunch is a time to sit and be quiet and eat.

Horoscope.

Horoscope

The Stars and Planets impel. They do not compel.
What does compel is the force of your will.
Astrology helps to get in control of it.

Astrology is necessary, not because it reveals what is happening,
But rather astrology illuminates what is already in store for you.

Planetary forces are like waves of an ocean. They can bring about,
movements, tension, and dynamic turn of events in your life.
It is up to you where you let them take you. It is not a story of your
fate or the pre-determined future.

Astrology is a key to a creative, disciplined and more meaningful life.

With the available latitude of your place of birth and time of birth,
the astrologer engages himself in mathematical calculations. He refers to the
astronomical charts and he prepares your horoscope.

The astrologer calculates the relationships of the planets and its effect,
An astrologer can predict special facts about your life.
Each of these planets represent a specific energy field.
All the planets are confined in a tabular chart to study their energy field.

Every person has his destiny shaped and fixed long before the body came into being.
Each individual has the energies reflected as per the placements of the planets.
The astrological chart is the sum total of potentialities of your life.

See the oceans. The moon rules the ocean tides. There are up and downs
as per the lunar vibrations. In the same manner our lives are governed by the movement of the planets.

Shit a Day.

Series153

Shit a Day keeps the Doctor Away.

For some people it is normal to visit the toilet
once or twice a week. For most of them, it is once in the morning.
The advice tendered on this issue is that the habit need not
be disturbed. What your body is accustomed to, to have it in
its normal and natural course is good. Do not force it by purgatories.
Forget your bowels and allow them to function normally and naturally.

Some people suffer from constipation.
Constipation can be regularised by a diet of bran and oatmeal.
Plenty of stewed and fresh fruits will help. Plenty of liquid is good.

Failing the above time table of intake of food and liquids, one of the
best things is to take a proprietary product prepared from local popular pods.
Do not regularly be addicts of castor oil, paraffin eposm salts and all that
household stuff to dilute the secretion for easy flow. It will weaken the intestines.

Cologne cleansing is very popular these days. Weight reducing agencies opt
for cologne cleansing.

This discussion is for the sake of general knowledge. In extreme cases consult a doctor.

The Coconut. A Boon.

Cocoanut-God’s Gift. A boon to us.
Green Cocoanut.
Cut-opened with a knife, in front of you, put a straw in the carved hole
to sip the cocoanut milk. The inner cream can be scraped with a spoon.

Dry Cocoanut.
When the coconut matures, its sweet water is nectar for human health.
The brown fibre, husk is pulled out and used in coir industry. Grated or used
for its milk, turned into candies, rice delicacies, and decorating Indian food dishes.

When cocoanut green layer turns brown, and dry, the cocoanut surface cover
turns hard like a rock. The sweet water inside is life giving water not found
in any other fruit. The matured fruit inside has to be pulled out from the hard shell.
It is allowed to dry and is the cocoanut fruit which bears coconut oil.
The husk has many important uses for ropes. The hard shell is turned into cups,
used in many ways. The trunk of the cocoanut tree is used as lumber.
The leaves are used to make broom, used for roofing or making bags.

The cocoanut tree is called the Tree of Life.
Cocoanut Oil is edible and it has many other important uses.

Cocoanut Oil Bath.
A scene on the brinks of (Kozhikode) Calicut, on the sea-shore.

“There are sheds wherein one shed is increasingly getting popular.
It performs the Kaya-Kalpa ceremony. You are soaked in Oil in a drum for hours.
A wooden drum is filled with coconut oil.
You are dumped in the drum and soaked and suffocated in oil from head to toe.
Two men drag you out. You lie on a mat in sunshine in open in the sands. When the body has absorbed the oil, again the same cycle is repeated. You are put on the mat to dry. In the process you swallow a lot of oil.
They clean the nose, ears and the stomach. A thin layer of cloth is passed through the nostrils. When the stomach is washed, you will find sickening sticky cough and beetle nut pieces and such other things recovered from the stomach, weighing about a kilo.

This is a process from morning to evening. It is like servicing the human body.
The bowels released vicious stored gas and secretion.

After the process is over, you are advised to take rest and very light food for a week.”

In the olden days before 50 years, the charge was INR 5000. Now it may be ten times.
My father had it done. I had been with him in childhood. He lived ten years longer.

This write out is for general knowledge and for normal healthy people.

Place of Music in Life.

Place of Music in Life.

“The Golden Rules is that there is no Golden Rule for Music.”
“Lyric which is pleasing and popular is Music.”

“Music rules the Court, the Camp, the Grove,
Music enchants men below and saints above.”

Jawahar Lal Nehru.

A kingdom was lost.

Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Last 14th November was Pandit Nehru’s Birthday.
He was sent to England at 16. He stayed there for 8 years.
He studied Latin, playing Cricket at Harrow. He studied science and
read Canterbury Tales of Chaucer at Cambridge. He was great social success in English society.
He moved easily through their drawing rooms absorbing English values and culture. So complete was his transformation that he was an English-man when he returned to India at the age of 24.

He applied for membership at local English Club, at Allahabad. He may have been a product of Harrow and Cambridge, but to the Club, he was an
Indian and was denied admission. And that was the end of the British.

This bitterness of rejection motivated him to join Congress.
He accepted Gandhiji as Guru.
Gandhiji would not accept him so easily.
He asked Nehru to tour India and report what he saw, and his views, on all he saw.
Nehru set out on a tour of the country which inspired him to write Discovery of India.

Oath of Office Binds You.

Beware Oath Breakers!
You are under Oath.
You are liable to answer.

“Around the Child, bend all the three graces; Faith, Hope and Charity;

Judges, Governors and CMs MPs MLAs etc and all office bearers.
Every Public servant attends swearing-in ceremony.
He has to take oath that he will discharge duties of his office

Some have doubts about Miracles.
Everyone has his own view about Miracles.

Miracles is not a day-to-day occurrence.

If one lives a normal straight forward

Intense Samadhi helps to fulfill desired things.
Meditation, concentration, prayer help to achieve

in prayer.
Do not allow the mind to roam around

your aim. You will get what you want.
You will find a clear cut answer to your problem.
You have then to act upon your problem accordingly.
You would surely succeed.

Good Governance.

Good Governance.

Let Administrators run the Administration.
Political leaders have crowded the administration.
They are good as agitators and slogan shouters.
In every Ministry, there is a Minister sitting at Top.
There should be no Ministry. It should be Secretariat.
There should be no Mantralaya. It should be Secretariat.

“For forms of Government, let fools contest;
Whoever administers best, is best form of Government.”

In Nehru’s time Judges were appointed as Governors and
Ambassadors. Justice MC Chagla for instance and many others.
There is a single isolated incident, Justice Fatima failed as Governor.
She invited JayLalita to form ministry in Tamil Nadu.

Judges can be better administrators.
Services of Retired Judges can be utilized for important
policy making posts. The problem is party discipline.
In the name of discipline, healthy suggestions are not heard.
Shashi Tharoor can not fit in the frame of party discipline.
Blind Party discipline has ruined the country.
No genius would like to be a Yes Man.
The country is full of lot of Yes Men crowding all around.

Textiles and Exports.

TEXTILES and EXPORT.

United States, China, India, Pak and Uzbekistan are five major cotton producing countries in the world. USA increased its cotton production by using modern techniques and world organization directives regarding use of fertilizers, modern methods of farming and use of pesticides to protect the crop.

We have to concentrate on increased production in light of advanced technology and methods and cover more area of land under cotton-plants cultivation. World-area, under cotton cultivation is 36 million hactares of which India cultivates in 9 million hactares of its agricultural land.

World production of cotton is 25 million MT out of which India represents 4 million MT i.e.16% of world's cotton production. The Cotton Corporation of India with its offices in new Bombay and regional offices in almost all cotton growing states regulate supervise and handle all cotton transactions in and out of the country. We are heading towards an economic revolution.

The present Government has put its finger on the right spot by revising the schemes and priorities in the Eleventh Five Year Plan. We cannot afford to remain complacent or unaware of world happenings. We have to march along with them. The present Government has been able to create an atmosphere of trust peace and means to clear the obstacles and expand business side by side, in an attempt to solve all important national issues.

Public Co-operation is the need of the day. The machinery has been set moving. Let it move. Do not allow it to derail now. It will have a disastrous effect if it is slowed down.

Government alone can not do everything. The people have to come forward to put in efforts so that Government plans and policy becomes fruitful to all.

Political Shelter to Smugglers.

Indian politics-Over-doing everything.

Indian Police is projected as a bunch of baboons.
Take for instance the case of Abdul Wahab Shaikh,
right-hand man of Don Latiff. Wahab was released after spending
14 years in jail. He was permitted by Court to leave the country for
Hajj pilgrimage. He obtained passport, visa for Jeddah for hajj pilgrimage.

What was the idea behind stopping him ? and all the police-watch at Air Port ?
Despite all watch, he slipped and became a hero for fooling the police.

The recent live-cast of police lodging at the Gateway of India,
deployed to guard the Taj hotel is another such instance.

It appears the leaders are scared of police and police powers.
Every leader has curbed police powers. Police powers have been
curbed to such an extent that Police looks like Tom and Jerry cartoons.
Police are puppets in hands of local, state, central, party workers. ____________________________________________________ GIVE THEM A FREE HAND AND RESTORE THEIR PRIDE, POWER.
You will see a new India. It is the need of the day. The Judiciary,
Rahul, Sonia have to stop political interference in police matters.

Smuggling.

What is Smuggling?

Import-Export is the backbone of our country.

There are two laws discrete.
(1).Law for men. (2).Law for things.

Any act or omission for goods liable for confiscation under

(1). Illegally bringing into India a boat load of refugees is
Not an act of Smuggling. It relates to (1).Law for Men.

(2). Illegally bringing into India a boat load of horses is
an act of Smuggling. Horses are chattel. Horses are
covered under Chapter I. of Customs Tariff.

(3). Illegally bringing into India US $ 20,000 is an act of
Smuggling, currency being goods as listed above.

(4). Illegally taking out of India,Antiques rare painting,
Rare coins is smuggling as they are goods as stated above.

Winston Churchill.

WINSTON CHURCHILL. (1874 to 1965.)

He saw military action in India. He was a good polo-player.
He was transferred and served in India in 1896 to 98 end,
to fight the Afghan war. He was a second Lieutenant.
He was responsible for Afghan war where his squad was made to retreat.
He was thereafter posted in the South Regiment at Bangalore.

It is over 60 years that British army rolled out of
Bangalore cantonment but the city and especially the
Russell market still remembers Churchill.

It is popularly said that a thousand VIPs have come
and gone but the one Bangalore remembers best is
Churchill who lived in winding lanes of Langford gardens.
A home owner has a yellowed receipt which shows
one Kasam tailor to W.Kurtill esq. for Rs. 4 towards
the cost of tailoring a pair of breeches. (name is not properly
spelled due to native illiteracy.)

Churchill did live in Bangalore is beyond doubt.
The proof lies in the moth eaten records of United services club.
There is a remark :
“Lieutenant W.L.S. Churchill is not to be permitted to sign chits
anymore, having defaulted in making his payments to the club.”
A princely sum of Rs.13 due from him has remained unpaid till this date.

RISK FACTOR

Without risk one can not make first million in life.
It needs calculated risk to make first million in life.
From a million to make a billion is not hard in life.

Teaching a Fish to Swim.
How would you feel in such a position?

My friend Mary was returning to India from a long stay in USA.
She found herself some time to spend at Heathrow airport.

She bought a cup of coffee and a small pack of biscuits.
She staggered laden with luggage to an unoccupied table.
She was reading when she felt aware of some rustling at her table.
From behind her paper she saw a neatly dressed young man helping
himself with her biscuits.

She not wanting to make a scene, leaned across and took one for herself.

A minute or so passed.

More rustling. He was enjoying a second biscuit.

By the time they were down to the last piece, she was real angry.
She could not bring herself to say anything, out of embarrassment.
Then the young man broke the remaining last biscuit into two,
passed half across to her. He ate the other half. He then left leisurely.

She was fuming all the while, quite red.
When the desk-team asked her for boarding pass.

Imagine her state of mind when she opened her handbag.

Her biscuit packet was lying there mocking at her.
She exclaimed “Oh No! Was I eating from his pack!”

Rain Rain Go Away.

RAIN RAIN RAIN..NAUGHTY RAIN GO AWAY.
SACHIN WANTS TO PLAY.

Loud roared the dreadful thunder,
My cotton on the field was my blunder.

Rain is unpredictable as her.
I knew she will come; she knew it would rain cats and dogs.
Nothing can make her pause or stay. She has her own way.
Rain or shine, to her, they are fine.
Where it rains, it pours.
Where it is dry, it is real dry.
There is no season for rain. It may rain, It may not rain.

Life magazine has forecasted that on account of melting glaciers of the Himalayas, entire North India will have dry spell within the next 30 years.

On account of construction of dam on the Brahmaputra river, there will be water shortage all around the north-eastern states, within the next ten years.

The first floor neighbour does not want that India should get river water from rivers originating from Tibet. China is strategically situated on the head and shoulders of our country. It can cause any mischief any time any where all along the North East of the country.

Reason? You have not to go to find it.
India has more agriculture land than China. That’s it.

Public Demonstrations.

PUBLIC DEMONSTRATION.
IT IS A DAILY ROUTINE.

No day passes without a demonstration.
It may be a local union, a student organisation or any group
protesting something.

There is another group opposing the above demonstration
marching with flags, banners and shouting slogans to prove their point.

The public is made to perform the role of spectators. It is a routine.
Life goes on as normal is if such demonstrations were a part of life.

The Government deploys battalions of their police squads who are
present on the scene to watch and see that it does not turn violent.
Generally such demonstrations end peacefully. In rare occasion it
explodes into bloody violence. BSF personnel, armed with machine guns take charge of the situation to control the violence.

Naxalites and Maoists have taken the country to rampage.
Armed forces have to be mobilised from one end to another through out the country.
Damage to the nation property runs into billions.
All this is a costly game.
The Government spends for maintenance of law and order,
beyond their means.

Is progress possible in the above circumstances?

The salaries of armed forces three wings, para-military forces,
Border security forces, salaries A to Z right from the President of India,
Cabinet, parliament, state Governors, Chief Ministers MLAs, Local bodies, municipalities panchayats – in short salaries of staff, Central government staff and state government and semi-local staff constitute half the income of the country.

KOLKATTA
MAD RAS CAL CUTTA

People go to Mumbai to make money,
To New Delhi to get power,
To Kolkata, to survive.

Banaras excites our senses.
Kolkata deadens our senses.

In no other city on the earth, you can see
tens of thousands sleeping under the stars,
on the pavements. A constant flow of humanity
jams the miles arcade along the Chauranghi street.

The miracle is that this huge city with millions unemployed,
functions. It has not become ungovernable. It somehow transports
millions to and from work, water gurgles from the standing pipes in the slums. Electricity goes on and off during the day is common. In the midst of odds, they find work in hundreds of thousands of workshops, small cottage industries, tiny stores and stalls, shoeshine kits, and rickshaws. There are many thin, underfed people about, but no one is starving.

Even more remarkable is the fact that human conduct in Kolkata
despite its cracks and difficulties, has not degenerated. It is a big cultural center of the country. Bengali poets dramatists, dancers have surpassed everyone in their creativity.
Crime in Kolkata is minimum in comparison to other cities. The street sleepers do not cause trouble. They save every rupee to send their family in the villages. An enormous sense of responsibility guides the lives of these poor people and gives Kolkata a soul that other cities might envy.

Sleep does not come at the call of the kingdom
Nor will sleep come when you asked it to come,
Sure sleep shall come when you do not ask to come,
Sleep is a Queen, shall come, unannounced, yet welcome,

But to the labouring, hard working, sleep comes without said
Sleep shall spring up unannounced, waiting like a maid,
That is the glory and story of sleep as my teacher said.

Gold Is Old.

GOLD IS OLD.

“Gold is the child of Laxmi.”
“Neither moth nor rust can devoureth it.”
“Gold is Gold. Everything else is rolled-gold.”

Gold is world’s rare metallic element.
Chemical Symbol of Gold is AU.
AU derived from Latin Aurum=Glowing.
Gold has melting point at 1064 degree Centigrade.
Several properties of Gold, its inability to react with water and oxygen.
has made gold immortal in our life.

World countries hold Gold stock as external official reserves.
Stock of gold-holdings by Central Banks and International Organisations,
Such stock works out at 32000 tons according to world council reports.

The Eclipse.

THE ECLIPSE.

IN RAINY WEATHER WHO CAN TELL,
WHETHER WE WEEP OR NOT?
WHO CAN SEE OUR TEARS?

I DREADED THE SUN FOR ITS FIERCE HONESTY,
I LOOKED STRAIGHT IN ITS EYES FOR BEING NASTY,
POOR FELLOW COULD NOT MEET MY FIERCE GLANCES
AND WAS SO AFRAID THAT HE PUT ON GLASSES.
SO FIERCE WAS MY ANGER,
SUN SAID HE WOULD SURRENDER.
MY MOTHER SAID THE ECLIPSE WAS TOTAL,
AND HAPPILY WE RETURNED TO OUR HOTEL.

P.S.
I ran to Mexico to write something
tangible for the readers as A New Year’s Gift. The glowing landscape
where the flat figures move in ritual pattern, is one of Nature’s great creations.
Places, people action all comes from a trip to Mexico. In the vividness and actuality of these elements, I found expression of my feelings and desire. I returned to my childhood days. It was an Eclipse day which I remembered in the midst of all the grandeur and beauty of Mexico. I jotted down the lines and it is my Gift as NEW YEAR GREETING to all READERS.

Temples do not help the Poor.

TEMPLES HAVE TO HELP THE POOR.

“Tell me, Priests of Religion !”
“What is gold doing in a holy place?”

Religion is one. It has many version.

It is not understood why people throw money
in the name of religion, in the temples ? Religion has
not involved itself into welfare of the poor and needy.

The money never goes to the poor and the needy.
What is the use of construction of new temples?
As it is, we have enough temples. Why that money should not be spent for the poor and the needy? The poor people have no houses to live by. Religious institutions should provide drinking water to the poor.

Solving the drinking water problem is easy.
In every village, there were old wells, step-wells,
artisan wells which have become obsolete because of
lack of maintenance. They have to be located and repaired and made fit to store water. It will cost less than to make new wells, step-wells or artisan wells for the village.

Old wells, step wells have to be recharged so that water-streams that brought water in the well could be revived.
This would cost less than making new wells.
Depth of old wells and step wells has to be bored deeper to
reach lower level of flowing water inside, to fill them.

Diamonds and Scorpions.

Series34

DIAMONDS and SCORPIONS.

It is reliably learnt that where there are scorpions, there are diamonds. Mostly scorpions live in groups, in sands. These sands have gold or diamonds. Take for example in India.

It appears Africa and India’s western coast have similarity. It can be said that both were one-part, once upon a time. They got separated on account of geographical changes. In Gujarat there are descendants of negro community. They are called Siddis. They have been rehabilitated in Modasa. There is similarity in their culture custom and tradition of Negroes of Africa.

In Africa on the Congo river-bed, in the sands, nuggets, granules of gold and diamonds are found. South Africa is the house of world diamonds and gold..

It is reported that the British company owned the sands of river-bed of Congo. On the river sands, huge force of labourers was engaged to sieve the sand. The sand was also washed with the river waters. There was an army of security staff to supervise the operation. The sand contained gold and diamonds.

The labourers were checked at lunch hours. But they, used to clandestinely fill-up sand in a match box.
Far-off, the Inn-man accepted it. They deposited the match box to the inn man. In return they were given a lavish food plate free.
The security staff also, was engaged in availing a free lunch by carrying a match box full of river sand.

An African-American now settled in USA narrated above incident to me.

Brain is a part of the human body, just like other parts.
It is a muscle just like all other muscles in the body.
It can be trained taxed taught worked upon, improved charged, recharged, pressurised, used, reused, burdened,
in order to bring it to the level of perfection.

For example for illustration:

You do not get the name of the place you have visited.
It has disappeared from your records, from your memory.
Devote a few minutes, solely to remember that place.
Ask the brain when, where, why, what, who was with you?
Exert your brain cells on this issue. Concentrate on it for about a minute. Still nothing is forthcoming?

No problem. Forget it. Leave it. Resume your normal life.
Your sub-conscious mind is at work to find out the details and name of the place visited.

In the midst of your normal life, you will get a flash. You will get an e-mail alert. The name will come back in your mind, within 24 hours. Try it.

Drastic Overhaul.

Series29
COUNTRY NEEDS DRASTIC OVERHAUL.

Can anyone remember and tell?
“When times were not Hard?”
“When money was not scarce?”

For chaos in the country, at the back of everything,
the political leaders are responsible for everything.
“NO becomes YES for money.”
“Our country has to be the source and fountainhead
in the world arena. In all matters it has to excel all others.”
No businessman would invest his fortune in a place,
where the government skims 20% of the top, or,
where the top of the port authority is corrupt.
Laws were made like cobwebs,
where small flies got caught,
and the big ones broke through.
Parliament has turned more or less an expensive big house,
where more or less it is a resting place of idlers.
Country expects everyone to do his duty.
If this dictum is followed, Country will be at the TOP.
India has not asserted itself as a world country in International matters.
Indian Diplomats have failed to project India as a super power player in the 21st century.
At the back of everything, there is lack of diplomacy and farsightedness in each issue.
Our media and lobby activity is very poor in international media and lobby.
We lack drive and force to project country’s issue.
We are meek and mild and docile and submissive.
We have to be aggressive and initiating in the cause of issues relating to our interest.
A policy of compromise and submissiveness is seen at each issue.
Every year, every term, new faces are inducted in the ministry.
None can do the magic. The present set of machinery, rules, regulations and principles of justice come in the way of fast track course of action required to be adopted in important matters. Our very existence is at a threat, as
A Nation.

There were incumbents before them on the same post.
They were better. That is the quality of the present lot.
There is nothing like moral and immoral in issues at international level. There is nothing ethics and non-ethics in issues relating to the security and solidarity of the country.

There are three kinds of lies.
Lies. Damn lies and statistics.
Statistics are generally used to lie to the public.
Damn lies are used to keep the lower rank and file in order.
Lies are common among colleagues.
There is lack of trust and confidence.
All can be bought and sold like commodity.
Everything is for sale. There must be a buyer.

According to Health administration rules an artist has to have a diploma from a recognised tattooing institute to practise this art.
He is supposed to take out a licence and is subject to frequent inspection by the health authority.
But all these rules are on paper and no agency takes action against unlicensed shops.

Childhood.

Series26
In my lighter mood I used to write my views on different subjects. It is easy to write and criticise about anything and everything one happened to come across. Speaking negatively, and making inflammatory type of statements in the form of comments is counter-productive and harmful to the cause of the very principle on which it was initiated.
I never though of writing about myself.
I was born and brought up in a Hindu family in India.
My father was a government officer and kept mostly busy with his office job. My mother was responsible for framing my life and my views on life. She was religious and had staunch views about it.
I was shy in my school days. We had a man servant Abdul. He had to drop me to school and pick me up from school when the school time was over.

In the school I was considered an average shy type of a boy. I was not recognised in the first ten of the boys and girls who got special attention by the school authorities. I remember one incident that I can not forget.

In the school debating competition, at the school level boys and girls from all elementary level were asked to speak their views, for and against a given subject. The subject was about the country attaining independence. All the participants spoke in praise of the subject and about the progress the country made after independence and all that.

The Principal commented that there was no participant to speak against the given subject. This stirred up my blood. I marched to the stage and started addressing the students against the subject. I criticised the Government for indecision, chaos and lack of law and order, lack of basic amenity for life to most of the people of the country. I insisted that there should be compulsory military training for all from the school level. I spoke ill about a few leaders for scandal and scams as I knew from general talk, about their personal life behaviour and scandals. This inflamed the audience.
The Principal was annoyed and asked me to sit down. After the debate was over, the class boys hood-winked me and beat me and torn out my books and cap and clothes and manhandled me for my disrespect for the country. At the relevant time in Parliament debate had lasted for four days about the national slogan Satyamev Jayate or SatyamevJayati. I said they should toss the coin and decide it and do not waste public time for such issues and it should be used for other good work for the people of the country.

When I came home, seeing my condition in torn clothes and torn books, mother straight away beat me without asking what had happened. Till date I do not know what was my fault.

I started writing a wall paper. I would take a fullscape paper.
From the newspapers like Blitz, Illustrated Weekly, Film Fare,
Times, Express I would write important news, items of joke, thought of the day, and some college news, a cartoon and other items. I would paste it on the notice board for readers’ views.
Boys used to take it out and tear it off. And all sorts of comments were made about me to stop me to write the wall paper. This did not deter me. On the other hand it gave me strength that the boys were scared of the idea of a wall paper with news about the school and their turn may come too. The wall paper daily was seen on the notice board with date day and title TORCH was a
Daily item on the notice board. I had to keep awake myself late night to prepare the wall paper and it was really a problem to carry such an oblong piece and affix it on the board. In the week-end days I used to bring old issues of Readers Digest and important weekly papers for my material for it. I purchased some books on jokes and crossword puzzles. One day I published news about a professor summoning a girl in the reading room and his favourable treatment to her.

Gradually my presence was recognised. The boys and girls were all from princely states, children of famous doctor, lawyer, judge, police chief and they had their own group and gang. I took part in elections. In the first instance I was elected as class representative. Thereafter I was the Secretary of the English Study Circle and then a general secretary. Thereafter my progress knew no bounds. This turned me into a headstrong
fearless chap not in the say of anyone in the college.
I earned wrath of the Principal professor and everyone in the college. I was an outcast from their circle. I was not welcome in their group. I did not take heed of them. I used to meet high dignitary ministers and invite them for functions and all that.
They did not like but they were scared of me that they did not harm me. I knew what I wrote was never appreciated. But I learnt that work was worship. It pays. It did pay in the long run.
In my life. I advocated that honesty was not restricted in terms of money but honesty in food behaviour living eating was applicable and all that. With all such activity I became good at inspection that is finding fault. I mastered that I art. What others overlooked, I kept a note of it and used it at a proper time. Such
Information in the form of a bombshell created havoc.

In practical life too I unknowingly followed this art. I do not speak, I observe. I watch. I wait for him or her to make a mistake. Till then I was silent. Finding a lapse I was the lion and the lion was the lamb.

One has to work hard to find mistakes, and once it is found, he is gone. I had an upper hand. I have never stopped.

Do Not Kill Animals.

Series25
DO NOT KILL ANIMALS.

In the name of mad cow disease, in Europe and in the USA million cows were slaughtered. What right human-being has to outright slaughter million cows.
Is it not genocide? Nature has made cows for a purpose.

Similarly in the name of bird-flu billions of chicken all over the world were killed and slaughtered mass-scale. Innumerable poultry farms were destroyed in the name of bird-flu by using carbon monoxide. Is this not genocide?

We have no right to destroy on mass scale animals for our selfish ends. What were the save-animals activists doing?

Who are we to disturb the balance of Nature?

National Geographic Report says that we have exhausted quota of sea-fish.
Demand is more than new fish growing under water.
We have put huge trawlers in mid-seas.
Huge nets are spread to catch tons and tons of fish. They are unloaded in the trawler.
A fleet, an army of men is ready to behead them and store it in cold storage. The waste goes back in the ocean. The trawler returns to the shore with tons and tons of ready stuff for use.
They make enormous money.
In short what I mean to say is we have disturbed the balance of Nature.
We will have to pay for it.

What is Mind?

Series23
WHAT IS MIND ?
Why do we say “What do you mean in your mind?”
Why do we not say “What do you mean in your brain?”
Why do we not say “What do you mean in your heart?”

Difference between mind heart and brain.
Mind is with us.
Mind is in us. Mind is in the body.
Mind is everywhere in the body.
When mind is gone, life is gone.

Brain is the administrator of the body.
Brain is in the Head. Brain controls the body.
Brain helps to remember. Brain stores memory.

Heart is in the chest. Heart is a mere blood pumping pump.
It supplies blood in the body.

In Europe, Rene Descartes doubted traditional and theological dogmas. He sought to find why anything can be said to be true.
Meditation and thinking on this aspect, revealed a fruitful thought.
COGITO ERGOSM I think therefore I am. I exist.
This was an attempt to separate Mind and matter.
But it was not an answer to the question what is mind?

Where is mind?
Brain is a thinking machine. It is an administrator of the human body. It has no sentiments. It is a calculator.
Heart beats. Heart has sentiments. Heart feels. Heart weeps.
Heart loves. Heart hates. Heart is angry.

Mind is in the body. It is flowing in the entire body cells.
Mind is the supreme self in the body. Mind is life.
When man dies, in post-mortem we do not find mind. We find brain. We find heart. There is no mind available in a dead body. Mind is energy. It evaporates with the man’s death.
Mind flies away to a distant destination. Indian philosophy calls it rebirth.

Lost Opportunity.

Series23

LOST OPPORTUNITY
Never lose opportunity when you happen to get it.
Opportunity comes rarely in your life. Do not miss it.
Lady Luck favours you once or twice in a lifetime.
Lady luck favours once or twice, not thrice.
Take it. Grab it. Do not let it slip from your hands.
Make followers. Make a group of your own. Alone you are nobody. In a group you are somebody. You get voice.
Do not spend the time in the house. Move out. You see.
House in only for sleep. Do not feel surrounded by your circumstances. Make a way out of it. Come out of everything. Do not carry lot of luggage of worries and ideas and future.
Be a judge of your problems. Problems of unimportance be put in cold-storage. All problems cannot be put in cold-storage.
You sort out the problems and classify them, whether it is wise to sit tight or take action. Evaluate each problem, try to tackle it.

You and the Circumstances.

Circumstances in life.

People are funny. They are impossible. We all know about them. People have the tendency to blame all sorts of circumstances for their shortcoming. People believe in luck. Many of them are a bundle of inconsistency. They jump the fence in no time where there is chance. They change like a weathercock. They are simply impossible.
It is agreed that luck plays a role in a man’s life. It is not true to credit or to blame luck hundred percent. To blame luck or circumstances wholly, for man’s failure or success is preposterous.
Ninety- percent perspiration and ten- percent inspiration is the proper ratio. People always blame circumstances for their ups and downs. Alone circumstances are not responsible. He has to put in his best efforts and mind. People always consider circumstances responsible for their failure or success. We see this factor everywhere. Circumstances are not responsible for man’s ups and downs to the extent they are given blame, or credit. It is our weakness if we blamed circumstances for our failure.

People shield themselves by quoting circumstances that caused their ups or downs. They hide themselves behind them. People quote different circumstances the way they want them to be. We all know about it. They are sob-sisters who grumble constantly. People, if they can not find circumstances, they make circumstances to support their case.

She was responsible for her circumstances. Her hasty nature was responsible for the mess. She wanted to change her circumstances. She had ceased to believe in luck, or miracles. Not that she had actually believed in miracles. She was a rationalist. She had strong opinion about things. Human being is a rational animal. She had always agreed with her mother’s remark who when once had asked her if she believed in luck, miracles. She had said:
She: “No, I am worried of them.”

Yet, his entrance in her life had been a miracle. By sheer luck he happened to stumble unto her. She felt she had over-reacted to his proposal. At the relevant time, she flew in air in search of a prince charming from the sky. She rejected him in a state of her being a bundle of tension. Her vanity, pride, was responsible for her behaving in such a way. She had rejected his approach without understanding the consequence. She felt she had closed the gate for further acquaintance. Her every quivering nerve was exposed. Her mechanism of automatic response to his advancement was anger, flight. Now she felt she was hasty. She should not have closed the door. She should have kept her options open. She had now waited with dumb wonderment. She was involved in suspense. Her breaking up like that was like a slap to him. It brought him to his senses. Circumstances were responsible for making them behave the way they behaved. It was a case of pride and prejudice between the two. Both were responsible for each other. He too was quite curt and obstinate and careless if, not callous on his part.

She was on a look out for a separate house for her in an attempt to change circumstances. It was time to get out of the old place and take a chance. “Change your place, Change your luck!”

To find a house in New York was as difficult as finding a job. It is proverbial to say that you find a job but not a place in New York. New York had crossed the saturation point since twenty years. New York is unmanageable. Night does not fall on New York. New York takes no sleep. New York buzzes of action for 24 hours a day. It is hard to walk on streets and roads in New York. Pavements are over flooded with pedestrians. We are hardly able to push through the crowd while walking on footpaths. It is impossible to get through hundreds of them standing in a queue waiting for a bus. Act of waiting for a bus for the thousands of them standing in queue is an important event for them rather than reaching home and spending night in cubbyhole of a home. Here they move with the city. They moved with the wind and air they longed to breathe. The house was a prison. Life exists on roads in New York. People are almost on the roads, and hardly indoors. To learn something is important. Most people never learn this basic principle. It is a sin to waste your time in unnecessary ifs and buts of your mind. People have to learn to make a way out of everything that happens to them.
A little clear thinking, unbiased, based on reason is necessary. No body does it. It can solve most of our day to day problems. You would not believe it. A little common sense can solve a very complex problem. But nobody likes easy way.

A calm and cool mind can solve any difficult situation. You have to try it. It is an ill bird that betrays its nest.

There is nothing, nothing more precious than Time. Time passed is life passed. People feel they have abundant of time with them. They waste their life. Do not make this folly. You will only live to regret it. Nobody takes time seriously.

Wasted hours days destroy your life just as surely at the beginning, as at the end. At the end of the life, wasted hours become more obvious. You cannot do anything then. No man lives so poor as he was born. It is true in some rare cases fortune appears to have favored the fools. A sleeping cat catches no mice. Where there is a will, there is a way. Ups and downs come alternately. A good marksman may miss. A good swimmer often drowns. A good cab-driver makes a folly. God helps those who help themselves. Amongst men and women, some are jewels; some are pebbles. Society represents good and bad element. But in the end, the rogue is at last, at length out-rouged. That is justice. Truth prevails. That is the law of Almighty.

Try to analyze what you hear. Listening is an important aspect of life. People have the habit to forget what they heard, taking it lightly. Do not make this mistake. These are facts of life, never take them lightly. Go on refreshing your memory whenever you are free. Do not allow your mind to rest. A good memory is an asset. You can memorize names, figures, and numbers, anything by constant practice.
Some possess good memory for names. Some have good memory for numbers. Memory can be cultivated by efforts. You must know names of all your classmates. You meet him after thirty years you must call him by his first name.

You have to train your mind to remember names, details, and description, significant features of an individual etc. A successful executive has to practice lessons in committing names of fellow beings by heart. Without effort he should call him by his name. Half the battle is won. He is on your side.

You have to train your brain to commit to memory certain important factors. You have to continuously renew your lessons lest you might forget. Have no mercy on the brain. Keep it busy. Refresh it with new and new things. Learn and remember. Do not allow the mind to be idle. Idle mind is Devil’s workshop. Put it to work. Any work. Ask the mind to recollect names of all your friends’ classmates’ right from childhood. Ask the mind the details of the last visitor in your office. What was he wearing? Describe him. Had he any special characteristics?

A good part of life comes from Money. Money is a good servant; a bad master. All want it. It is good when money works for you. Money makes the mare go. All sorts of crime are committed for money. Money game has made many mad. Commercial adventure, dash and address are pre-requisites of a good businessman. Count like the Jews. Agree like brothers. Where two cats fight for the sweet, the monkey gulps it under the pretext of doing justice. It needs two for a quarrel. Friends are many when the purse is full. That which is written, is read. Opt for an unjust peace than a just war. Better bow than break. No flying without wings.

A good part of life comes from power. Power is the crux; All run to the center of power. It is the biggest intoxicant. Power is a pretty toy. Power combined with a network of relation built over generation can achieve any impossible height. Power is everything. No drug, cocaine morphine, alcohol spirit, matches the effect of power intoxication. Absolute power corrupts. Excessive power breeds contempt. Power can’t be given up.

A good part of life comes from willingness. You have to put life in what you have been doing. Mindless pursuit of an object yields no results. Our mind is a muscle like any other muscles in the body. It can be trained taught worked upon charged recharged overcharged pressurized taxed burdened used reused overused in order to bring it to a level of perfection. Rigorous exercise to the mind has caused wonderful results. Keep it engaged by constant supervision and monitoring what it is doing.

She had not failed to see these. She was a sensible observant being. She heard the other girls talk about it in crude words, in crude language. You can beat the camel and lead him to the brook. She believed. You can not make the camel drink the water unless it has the willingness to drink.

Her mind was a jumble of truth and non-sense about everything. Most of it was out of her imagination exaggeration, and speculation. The girls were heard telling many things. She did not believe them. Man and woman did just like dogs and animals. To her it had not seemed dignified. She did not believe them. We do things, which do not seem dignified but we have been doing it.

Take the example of the bees and the flowers, animals, plants, everything. This is the theory of reproduction. We multiply and go on increasing. There is nothing to be ashamed about it. It takes generations to multiply and increase. Human race is no exception. Every day it increases in huge numbers. It is the theory of reproduction. Life exists by production reproduction multi production and so on. When she had learnt about this, she was shocked. She was unknown to facts of life. But after she had got over her first reaction about all this, she had liked to find someone who would give straight answers. Till then she kept her secrets to herself. Marriage is based on myth and false hopes. It is triumph of hope over other peoples’ experience. One man with one woman is tied for the life. She realized. Thereafter they repent and feel their life a waste. Both feel the monotony frustration of life. Both feel caged entrapped in matrimony. Both want to get out of the cage in haste. The young ones jump into marriage in haste. They repent in waste. It is a one way street. You have to pay a heavy fine to get out of it.
Love is blind. It does not see caste or creed or
community. Love happens; it is close to home.
